PROVO, Utah – BYU football fall camp kicks off Tuesday, August 3 without a week one opponent thanks to a waiver granted by the NCAA allowing teams without a scheduled game to begin practice.
The beginning of August is usually a time for rejoicing amongst college football fans, but with so much uncertainty surrounding 2020 season, it doesn’t feel like a typical August leading up to several months of football.
With that being said, Mitch Harper and Matt Baiamonte of Cougar Sports Saturday didn’t shy away from making a few bold predictions regarding BYU Football fall camp.

Neil Pau’u is the #1 wide receiver
“I think it’s obvious. It’s by a mile that he’s the best receiver on the team this season. He was great in spring football. Every time I see Neil I thought this reminds me a little bit of when Cody Hoffman was a freshman.”
Jackson McChesney will be the #1 running back
“I think that Jackson McChesney will be so outstanding in fall camp that he will warrant a starting position. He’s the only guy in the running back room that has that running back DNA. I think he’s the most well-rounded back.”
No season-ending injuries in fall camp
“I think this approach of individual training, and that doesn’t mean the football program didn’t help them out because all the resources were there, but ultimately they (players) had to put in the work. I believe this experienced, senior-laden team put in the work and I think that’s going to bare fruit in fall camp with no season-ending injuries.”

Kody Epps is going to be a star
“I’m projecting Kody Epps is going to be a starter. Maybe in that slot receiver, he can be an outside receiver too. Dax Milne is going to be really good as well, but Kody Epps is a special talent. I think he will be an instant contributor.”
Matt Bushman is the best tight end in college football this year
“Bushman, to me, is the best tight end the sport has to offer. We are going to see the best of him. He’s been putting in that work like so many of these guys. I think in fall camp you’re going to see that dominance on display.”
Zach Wilson clear cut #1 quarterback for BYU
“I think he will be head and shoulders above everyone else and he’s going to be the top guy.”
