Tony Finau Eight Shots Off Leader After First Round At Southwind

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau finds himself eight shots off the lead following the first round of the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational in Memphis, Tennesse and is currently in a tie for 36.
The tournament is acting as a warm-up for the following weeks PGA Championship, the first major of the 2019-20 season.
Finau finished his round with two bogeys and two birdies to end with an even-par 70.
Round 1 stats:
Average Driving Distance: 313.5 yards
Driving Accuracy: 57.1%(8 out of 14 fairways)
Greens In Regulation: 50.0%(9 out of 18 greens)

The field is chasing 2019 Champion Brooks Koepka who sits two strokes ahead of anyone else at eight under par. Rickie Fowler and Brendon Todd are in a tie for second entering the second round.
The St. Jude Invitational is the first tournament since the return of golf that includes a field that consists of 45 of the top 50 golfers in the world.

Finau is playing alongside Gary Woodland and Mathew Fitzpatrick, the trio will tee it off on the first tee at 8 a.m. to begin Friday’s second-round.
Since the return of golf from the suspension caused by the coronavirus, Finau has made the cut on all but one occasion.
