SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau is in a tie for the lead at the 3M Open after posting a first-round six-under-par, 65. According to Golf Caddie Network, Finau has split with longtime caddie Greg Bodine off the heels of a close call at last week’s Memorial Tournament. Finau’s coach, Boyd Summerhays, is on the bag this week.
Tied For The Lead At 3M Open
Finau started his day on hole 10, his round included seven birdies and one bogey. After a slow front-nine, that only included two birdies, Finau found form at the turn dropping five birdies across the back-nine. His lone bogey came on the par 4th seventh after his approach shot found the long rough just off the back of the green. An attempted flop shot fell short of the green into the second rough, he was able to get up and down for bogey.

Finau has been in position to secure his second tour victory on a number of occasions, most notably when he was paired with Tiger Woods in the final group on the final day of the 2018 Masters.
Earlier this year, Finau was in the final group and held a two-stroke lead at the Waste Management Phoenix Open with two-holes to play, only to eventually lose to Webb Simpson.
