Tony Finau Leads Memorial Tournament Following First Round

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Salt Lake City native Tony Finau sits on top of the leaderboard following a six-under-par round day one at the Memorial Tournament.
Finau’s day began strongly with a birdie on the opening hole. A bogey on three pulled him back to even, he would make the turn at one-under-par following a birdie on nine.

The back nine was where Finau made his run. He would score a remarkable six birdies and one bogey to end with a final-round score of 66 and a one-shot lead.
Finau will begin his second round on the 10th tee at 5:55 a.m.
Finau took a week off prior to this tournament, he spent time with his family in Salt Lake City and working with his coach Boyd Summerhays. While home, Finau played Victory Ranch Country Club and shot a 59, tieing his previous career-low score.
Tiger Woods returned to competitive golf for the first time in five months during the first day of the Memorial Tournament. Woods finished his first round with a final score of 71, one-under-par and in a tie for 20th.
