ORLANDO, Florida – Albert Rusnak scored the first goal of the MLS is Back tournament for Real Salt Lake Sunday night, slamming home a deflection from close to the penalty spot in the 27th minute.
Rusnak’s goal is the second of the season for RSL, going back to the team’s March 7th game against the New York Red Bulls.

How It Happened
RSL had two great chances earlier in the match. Corey Baird ripped a shot off the crossbar in the 6th minute off of a fantastic give-and-go with Douglas Martinez. Later, in the 21st minute, ??? service led to a shot right in front of goal for Martinez himself, but Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin just reached out for the save at the last possible second.
Holding 63% possession at the time, RSL kept the pressure on. Martinez got out on the wing, playing the ball into the box to Damir Kreilach, but Irwin was there. His save went awry, however, and fell to Rusnak, who slotted the shot home from about 12 yards away.
Real Salt Lake continues their tournament run following tonight’s match against the Rapids. RSL will play Minnesota United on July 17th, and they finish their group stage play against Sporting Kansas City on July 22nd.
