Real Salt Lake Inks Contract Extension With Midfielder Nick Besler

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake announced that the club signed midfielder Nick Besler to a contract extension.
RSL broke the news of Besler’s new deal on Friday, July 3.
“We’re excited to keep Nick here. He is a player of the culture that you want to try to develop as a coach. He works extremely hard every day, he’s always ready to go and is a player that has earned a lot of respect from his teammates,” Real Salt Lake head coach Freddy Juarez said in a statement. “He’s an important player for us and I think he will be a bit player for us going into this Orlando trip.”

Besler was originally signed by the club in the 2017 season. Since then, the midfielder has appeared in 41 matches, including 24 regular season starts and postseason start. Besler has posted two goals and two assists as a member of RSL.
“I was happy to sign a new contract,” Besler said in a statement. “This is the second club I’ve been at and the first I’ve had success at, so I’m excited to stay here in Salt Lake.”
Besler and Real Salt Lake open the “MLS Is Back” Tournament against the Colorado Rapids on July 12 at 8:30 p.m. (MDT). The tourney will take place in Orlando, Florida.
