Real Monarchs To Play 14 Game USL Schedule

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Real Monarchs are returning in the form of a 14 game season beginning July 11th against the San Diego Loyal SC at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The United Soccer League (USL) is the second-tier professional soccer competition, closely behind Major League Soccer. Real Salt Lake’s second-tier equivalent is the Real Monarchs. The Monarchs typically play their home games at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah.

However, the 2020 season will be moved to Rio Tinto Stadium with the hope that the league can safely and comfortably accommodate fans in the stadium. Rio Tinto Stadium offering more space for fans to operate in, as opposed to Zions Bank Stadium.

Currently, the Monarchs will host eight USL opponents and they will travel to six opposing teams stadiums.

Jamison Olave enters his debut season as manager after taking over as interim following the firing of Martin Vasquez midway through the 2019 season. The Monarchs lose two very key players from the 2019 season in Justin Portillo and Douglas Martinez, both players were signed by Real Salt Lake following very impressive stints in the USL.
