In 2018 as a high school recruit, Jones was a four-star prospect that was ranked No. 118 in the country according to 247 Sports. He committed to Illinois in April 2018. When he entered the transfer portal during this off-season, he received offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado State, Hawai’i, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Portland State, UCSB and Southern Utah.
Southern Utah finished the 2019-20 season with a 17-15 overall record and a 9-11 mark in Big Sky play. They didn’t finish the Big Sky Conference Tournament because of coronavirus concerns.
