SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU basketball great Brandon Davies sported Black Lives Matter gear prior to helping his team pick up a victory in the Liga ACB’s restart.
The former Cougar forward and FC Barcelona played against Divina Seguros Joventut on Wednesday, June 17.
Prior to the game, Davies was photographed wearing a shirt and shoes to support the Black Lives Matter movement.
Davies is one of many professional athletes to show support for the international movement in recent weeks. Protests across the globe were sparked by the death of George Floyd in late May when Floyd, a black man, died after a white police officer knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes.

Davies went on to help his team to a 96-92 win. He finished the game with four points and a pair of rebounds.
“Black Lives Matter,” Davies posted on Instagram following the victory. “Thanks FC Barcelona & teammates for the support in this quest for Equality!”
For Davies and Barcelona, it was the first game of competitive basketball since the coronavirus pandemic halted play following their last game on March 8.
After the first game back, Davies tweeted, “Basketball is back! lil rusty but happy we got the win!”
