Lake helped lead BYU to four appearances in the NCAA Tournament including a run to the National Semifinals against Stanford in 2018.
The WCC Mike Gilleran Scholar-Athlete of the Year is selected by a vote of the WCC’s Executive Council to recognize the finest accomplishments in athletics, academics and community service by individuals who have completed their collegiate eligibility. Mike Gilleran was the WCC’s first league commissioner.
Lake joined Anders Engebretsen of Saint Mary’s men’s soccer as this year’s WCC Scholar-Athlete honorees.
Last season, Lake became the Cougars’ all-time leader in career digs, finishing with 1,898. A crowd favorite during her four years at BYU, Lake excels in the classroom as well. Lake is concurrently earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the BYU Marriott School of Business’s accounting program. BYU’s Business program is annually ranked as one of the top programs in the country.
Since BYU became a member of the West Coast Conference in 2011, Lake is the fourth BYU player to earn the Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor. Three of the four athletes have come from BYU’s Women’s Volleyball program.
