SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Some Connecticut graduates were surprised with two pairs of shoes from Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell. The All-Star gifted his signature sneakers to each graduate from the Classical Studies Academy in Bridgeport. Mitchell is a Connecticut native.

The eighth-grade graduates received a drive-through parade and a photo opp with school officials. Then, they were surprised with the gift from Mitchell. Nicole Mitchell, Donovan’s mother attended the celebration with his younger sister to hand out the gifts.

“This is something that will inspire other children to just keep on moving forward,” Mitchell’s mother told Pix 11 News. “No matter what’s going on around you, you just keep on moving forward.”

Mitchell is no stranger to giving away his shoes. The Jazz guard selects a lucky youth before every Jazz game to gift his sneakers. In May, Mitchell included his second signature shoe in an auction to raise money for the ALL IN  Challenge.

“This is an amazing opportunity,” Nicole said. “It’s everything that Donovan stands for. D.O.N. Issue #1, determination over negativity.”

D.O.N. Issue #2

Mitchell, an Adidas athlete received his first signature shoe in July of 2019. Since then, the brand has released a new colorway seemingly monthly since the initial red and blue D.O.N. Issue #1 debuted.

In April, the All-Star guard gave fans their first official preview of his second signature shoe, the D.O.N. Issue #2. Mitchell teamed with the NBA2k video game series to debut the shoes on the game’s platform.

Jazz fans and sneakerheads won’t have to wait long for additional colorways of the D.O.N. Issue #2. The public will have access to Donovan Mitchell’s second signature shoe on July 4. Additional colorways of the D.O.N. Issue #2 will debut on July 15.

According to the popular online shoe retailer Eastbay, the first edition of the D.O.N. Issue #2 will debut in a glory mint, signal gree, and solar red colorway. On July 15, 10 additional colorways will drop. Those include black and white, collegiate navy and white, white and scarlet, grey and white, white and team royal blue, white and metallic gold, collegiate royal and white, white/team navy blue and white, power red/white and solar red, and white and black.
