Anae was projected to go in the third or fourth round but surprisingly dropped to the end of the fifth round. The Cowboys snatched him late in the round and filled a need for a team that could contend for a Super Bowl.
Last season in 2019 as a senior, Anae exploded for 13 sacks and 14 tackles for loss which led to being named an All-American and first team All-Pac-12. Anae broke the school record for most career sacks with 30. He also won the Morris Trophy.
