SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Michael Stockton, son of Utah Jazz legend John Stockton will continue his professional basketball career in France. According to Sportando, the 31-year-old guard signed a two-year contract extension with his club Cholet Basket.

Stockton spent last season with the French club and averaged 12.2 points, 6.8 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game. Cholet plays in the LNB Pro A league, the top professional league in French Basketball.

Stockton has been playing professionally overseas since 2011 when he debuted with BG Karlsruhe in Germany. The guard has played for seven professional teams, including the Canton Charge of the NBA G-League.

Stockton played college basketball at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. The son of the Hall of Famer averaged 18.2 points per game as a senior. The former Griffin went through a pre-draft workout with the Jazz in 2011.

“Whether this means anything going forward or not this is absolutely a dream come true to be able to put this logo on and play,” Stockton told KSL Sports Jeremiah Jensen. “I’m just very fortunate to be in this position right now. Very lucky.”

Michael isn’t the only Stockton child to play professional basketball. Younger brother David spent three months with the Jazz in 2018. The guard is now a member of the South Bay Lakers in the G-League.

Stockton’s two daughters each played college basketball. Daughter Laura played at Stockton’s alma mater Gonzaga while Lindsay played at Montana State where Stockton served as an assistant coach.
