SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic will undergo season-ending wrist surgery according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The Croatian has had a breakout season with the Jazz as one of the league’s best three-point threats.
“Utah Jazz F Bojan Bogdanovic is undergoing season-ending surgery on his right wrist, sources tell ESPN,” The tweet read. “Full recovery expected for start of 2020-21 season. He’s averaged 20 points per game for Jazz, fourth-seed in West.”
Bogdanovic is the Jazz second-leading scorer behind All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell.

In an ESPN article, Wojnarowski reported that Bogdanovic suffered the injury in the Jazz January, 20 meeting with the Indiana Pacers. Bogdanovic would finish the game with 16 on 5-11 shooting against his former team.
However, Bogdanovic injured the wrist earlier in the season and was playing through discomfort for most of the year.
The Jazz forward will undergo surgery Tuesday in New York on the ruptured scapholunate ligament in his right wrist.
There is no official timetable on forward’s return.
Bojan Bogdanovic Wrist Surgery Hurts Playoff Hopes
The injury is a major blow to the team’s playoff hopes if the 2019-20 season is able to resume. The forward is one of the league’s most efficient perimeter scorers.
Bogdanovic signed with the Jazz last summer. Currently, the forward has three years and just over $56 million remaining on his contract with Utah.
If the season restarts, Bogdanovic’s absence will leave a glaring hole in the team’s starting lineup. The forward had appeared in 63 of the team’s 64 games so far this season. Additionally, the sixth-year veteran is the team’s second-leading three-point shooter at 41 percent.

Coach Quin Snyder will likely look to guard Joe Ingles to move into the starting lineup. The Australian guard has bounced between the starting unit and the reserves this season. Forward Royce O’Neale could move to the team’s power forward position. Meanwhile, Ingles can assume small forward duties.
Bogdanovic doesn’t have a lengthy injury history. The forward has played in at least 78 of the season’s 82 games each season of his career.
