Utah Section PGA To Host Tournaments For High School Golfers Starting May 27

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – If you play high school golf in the state of Utah, and are itching to get back on the course to compete, you are in luck.
Starting on May 27th, the Utah Section PGA will be hosting its first golf tournament of the year for girls that play in the 6A and 5A divisions. Then, on June 3rd, a tournament for 4A, 3A and 2A girls will be held as well as a 1A boys tournament. All tournaments will be played at Meadowbrook Golf Course.
The tournaments are not sanctioned by the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA), they will be independently run by the Utah Section PGA.
Each High School will be able to invite six golfers. The players will sign up individually via the Utah Section PGA website, furthermore, golf coaches must also submit the names of their participants in an email to Aaron Goodman at agoodman@pgahq.com.
The Utah Section PGA will be following the guidelines administered by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The flagstick must be left in, there will be no rakes in the bunkers and there will be no scoreboard or scoring area. Players will drop their scorecards into a dropbox following the conclusion of their round.
A decision to allow spectators will be made at a later date as the Utah Section PGA continues to follow COVID-19 health recommendations.
Moreover, an email will be sent to all players with any updated information regarding updates on the CDC guidelines.
