SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Local professional athletes and sports teams from the state of Utah celebrated National Nurses Day by thanking healthcare workers who are fighting against the coronavirus pandemic.

National Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 6 to honor nurses and raise awareness of the important role they play.

Players, teams, and universities from around Utah posted their gratitude for these healthcare workers on social media in celebration of National Nurses Day.

“Thank you to all of our healthcare heroes on National Nurses Day,” tweeted Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley. “We appreciate you today and every day!”

Fellow Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell joined “The Real Heroes Project” by dedicating his jersey to a doctor.

Real Salt Lake posted about their gratitude for healthcare workers as well.

Like Donovan Mitchell, Utah Royals FC joined in to support “The Real Heroes Project.”

“Thank you to all the nurses who risk their health and safety to care for others,” the University of Utah posted on its official Twitter account. “The heroism you put on display every day is inspiring.”

Utah State Athletics honored former Aggie gymnast Breyanna Aufiero, who is now a healthcare worker.

Southern Utah Athletics also tweeted about their gratitude for nurses on National Nurses Day.
