Utah Lacrosse Attackman Colin Burke Selected Third Overall In MLL Draft

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah graduate transfer attackman Colin Burke was selected third overall in the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Draft on Monday.
Burke is the first ever Utah lacrosse player to be drafted. He was drafted by the New York Lizards.
Utah lacrosse had their season cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic but in that short time, Burke led Utah and was ranked top 20 nationally with 31 points and 16 assists. He tied for 12th in Division I with 2.67 assists per game and averaged 5.17 points per game which was good for 15th in the nation.
Burke scored a season-high eight points against Furman, notching four goals and four assists. He recorded four assists four different times during the season against Bellarmine, Lehigh, Furman and Jacksonville.

The graduate transfer arrived at Utah from Fairfield, where he played for the school from 2016-18. Burke was an honorable mention USILA All-American in 2016 as well as the 2016 CAA Co-Player of the Year, 2016 Rookie of the Year and a two-time All-CAA selection. He earned first team honors as a freshman. Burke led Fairfield in points in all three seasons.
Utah assistant coach Will Manny previously played two seasons for the Lizards from 2017-18.
During the 2020 season, Utah finished with a 3-3 record. Their last 8 games were canceled due to the pandemic.
