NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – New Orleans Saints quarterback and former BYU star Taysom Hill have agreed to a big contract to keep him in the Big Easy.
According to reports, Hill and the Saints have agreed to a two-year $21 million contract. It’s basically a one-year extension as Hill was signed for the 2020 season with the first-round tender the Saints offered the three-year NFL veteran.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that $16 million of Hill’s new contract is guaranteed money.
“I’ve had this dream since I was a little kid of playing in the NFL. The New Orleans Saints made that dream a reality, and over the past 3 years I’ve had the opportunity to play with and for some of the best men I’ve ever known. I am humbled and grateful that my wife, future son, and I get to continue living our dream in the city we love, with the people we love! Thank you NOLA,” said Hill on his personal Instagram.
Saints also agree to terms with former number one pick at QB
This news comes on the heels of reports surfacing that the Saints are nearing a deal with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston. Winston, a former number one overall pick, is reportedly close to signing a one-year contract with New Orleans.

Saints head coach Sean Payton has said that Taysom Hill is going to be the saints QB2 behind the future hall of fame quarterback Drew Brees. But while Brees is playing, New Orleans wants to continue to utilize Hill in the “F Position” role that he has flourished in as a QB/WR/TE/RB for the Saints.
Through three seasons with the Saints, Hill has attempted 13 passes in the regular season and thrown for 119 yards. Hill had a performance in last year’s NFL Playoffs against the Vikings that put him in a position to land a new contract with the Saints.
