Five Utah Gymnasts Named Regular Season All-Americans

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Five Red Rocks gymnasts from the University of Utah have been named regular season All-Americans by the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
Senior Kim Tessen earned second-team honors after leading the Utes with top-10 finishes on two events on vault and the uneven bars. Tessen ended the season ranked ninth in the nation on the vault and bars. She anchored both events for the Utes and posted career-highs of a perfect 10 on vault and 9.975 on bars, while adding a 9.90 score on at least one event in every meet this season.
Sophomore Cristal Isa also received a pair of second-team honors on beam (No. 9) and bars (No. 16). She had a streak of five beam routines with scores of 9.90 or higher, which included three straight 9.95 scores. Isa went 9.875 or higher on bars in seven of Utah’s nine meets.

Freshmen Abby Paulson and Maile O’Keefe joined Isa as regular season All-Americans on beam. Paulson finished tied for ninth in the nation on beam with O’Keefe ending the season tied for No. 13. Paulson recorded a 9.90 score on beam in seven of nine meets and earned Utah’s first perfect 10 on beam since 2008. O’Keefe capped the season with six straight scores above 9.90 which included two 9.975 scores.
Sydney Soloski rounded out the Red Rock’s 2020 regular season All-Americans as she received second team honors on the floor, finishing with a No. 11 ranking in the nation. Soloski scored three 9.95 scores this season and hit the 9.90-mark in six of their eight floor routines.
The five Red Rocks all earned the first regular season All-America honors of their careers. Including her 2018 NCAA All-America honor, Soloski now holds two total All-America awards on floor.
Utah finished the regular season undefeated and won the Pac-12 regular season title before having their postseason canceled due to the coronavirus or COVID-19 concerns.
