SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Just like you, the KSLSports.com team has been without live sports for a week.
Typically at this time of year, we’d be busy covering games like the NBA and the NCAA Tournament.
While in quarantine, we’re still doing our best to provide you the best sports coverage possible. During our time off the clock, we’ve found ways to stay entertained in isolation.
With no live sports, how have you been staying entertained?

Jeremiah Jensen – SportsBeat
We all miss live sports. There is no replacement but it helps a little to go back and re-watch our favorite sports moments from the past. If you have a Utah sports highlight/moment you want to see make a request and I'll post it. #takenote #BYU #Utes #AggiesAllTheWay @KSL5TV pic.twitter.com/CU4hjlPSnL

Sports Fans! How are you coping without Live sports? Well… maybe this will help? My kids recreating some all-time great sports moments beginning just off the 16th green at #TheMasters in 2005!#InYourLifeHaveYouSeenAnythingLikeThat #Tiger@KSLSports pic.twitter.com/aKvXIvwb0D

Tom Hackett – It’s Utah’s World Podcast
My wife, Freddy, and I have gotten stuck into Love Is Blind on Netflix. It brings me the closest adrenaline kick that I have found to live sports. I have also been playing Madden 20 and am the quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals. I slipped to the 7th round but to nobodies surprise, I beat Andy Dalton out in camp.
Spending time with the wife, baby, and dog are also high on the priority. We make sure to get outside and go for at least one walk a day.
Can’t stop watching @LoveisBlindShow. Someone send help. It’s the closest thing to the adrenaline of live sports that I have found. #BarnettIsABarney #WhatIsGoingOnWithRory #DamiansProposalWasTheDorkiestThingIHaveEverHeard

Alex Kirry – KSL Unrivaled
I’ve rewatched High School Musical, played (dominated) Mario Kart with the kids and rewatched everything Jeremiah Jensen has posted on Twitter.
Only a matter of time until I have to break the bad news to the Kirry kids.

Mitch Harper – Cougar Tracks Podcast
Loving “The Circle” on Netflix. It kind of feels like it was a show preparing us for these social distancing times we currently live in right now. Also, I’m diving into watching all the HBO docs. This latest one, McMillion$ a man rigged the McDonald’s Monopoly game.
Not all of it is streaming TV shows. Enjoying the time with my kids by helping them with their school work and taking walks around our neighborhood.
First night getting used to life with no sports on TV. I turn on Family Feud (what else am I going to watch?) and I see former #BYU football player Zac Erekson leading his family to a fourth Feud victory. pic.twitter.com/l6YI7fGjee

Ben Anderson – Jazz Notes Podcast
I tried to watch Love is Blind, but I can’t stand the way Barnett sits when he’s in the dating room so I had to stop watching. In the meantime, I’ve been binging Succession on HBO. It’s fun to watch other people grapple with more difficult family issues than we are facing as a country.
Also, the American Film Institute updates its top 100 films of all time every decade or so, so I am trying to cross those off the list when I have free time. Why are so many movies made in the ’60s four hours long?
Alright everyone, let’s see your #QuarantineLife home office. This is the remote @kslsports set up for today. (Extra points for pets) pic.twitter.com/pKZQ9nXYoQ

Trevor Allen – Crimson Corner Podcast
I have been watching a lot of Netflix and playing the Wii with my 4-year old. He is pretty good at Mario Kart. I challenge Alex.
Hey @netflix, are you adding more shows in the coming days? Asking for a friend.

Matt Glade – The Scotsman Podcast
I keep my spirits up with animal videos; animals doing funny tricks, making funny sounds, sleeping and looking cute in general, I consume it all. My personal favorite is animals of different species who are best friends. A dog and a cat, an orangutan and a dog, a goose that thinks it’s a cow; I 10/10 recommend.

To satisfy my competitive appetite, I have gone back to my old school gaming systems. I’m conquering worlds on the original Star Wars Battlefront, knocking out Mike Tyson on my original NES, and winning the Stanley Cup on my Sega Genesis.
Zak Hicken – SportsBeat Afterhours Podcast
I haven’t changed much from my routine during the quarantine. I’m trying to spend more time with my wife and son, but what free time I have, I’ve been doing a lot of reading, exercising, cleaning, and doing projects around the home.
Good news guy, I made some bomb mac 'n cheese for lunch today, it's so good I'm thinking of opening up a food truck/restaurant called Zak 'N Cheese where I make a bunch of gourmet mac 'n cheese

Hema Heimuli Jr. – SportsBeat Afterhours Podcast
I’ve been recording music.
Matt Baiamonte – Cougar Sports Saturday
My wife and I are watching Dude Perfect on YouTube for about an hour a night. It’s sort of scratching my itch for sports. Love those toys.
We are actually cooking food for once, so that’s been a fun, new adventure!
I’m now taking TV show recommendations as my only entertainment will now be from my home. Movies and sports getting delayed and cancelled 😭 Help! THIS IS CRAZY!

Madisan Hinkhouse – KSLSports.com Executive Producer
I’ve been reading, doing lots of yoga, and hiking with my dog. We watch LOTS of music videos.
Hey @disneyplus, as a special quarantine gift… can we please have Rise Of Skywalker? Pretty plz

Kyle Ireland – Digital Sports Producer
You’ve all seen the coronavirus memes on social media… I too am experiencing how nice the woman on the couch next to me is. My wife and I have both been working for home for the last week. During our time off, we’ve been cooking, smoking some BBQ on the Traeger, and following in the quarantine footsteps of Donovan Mitchell and Royce O’Neale by playing a little Call of Duty. I miss live sports.

Nate Dowdle – KSL Sports Director
I’ve become obsessed with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on my kids’ Nintendo Switch. It’s absolutely incredible. I’ve become completely engrossed in the open-world concept.
It’s been a long, long, long time since I played anything outside of a quick game of Madden on my phone, but this game has me hooked. I hope I can finish it before we go back to “normal”.
I hope the servers @Disney can handle the amount of streaming that's about to happen in households all over the country.

Jeremy Mauss – KSL Unrivaled Producer
I have been going through cookbooks to make new meals I have not had the time to do before, so that is a fun way to kill some time.
Plus, my kids have kept telling me to watch The Mask Singer so I caught up on season three. The show is highly entertaining, dumb, and fun, so I recommend that for all.
Doing a project for @kslsports about what sporting events to rewatch as there are no live sports for a bit.
Give me your favorite (preferably from a Utah team) game you will watch again.
Bonus points for YouTube link of full games.

How Do I Prevent It?
The CDC has some simple recommendations, most of which are the same for preventing other respiratory illnesses or the flu:
- Avoid close contact with people who may be sick
- Avoid touching your face
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Always wash your hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
The CDC does not recommend wearing a facemask respirator to protect yourself from coronavirus unless a healthcare professional recommends it.
