SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Although NFL free agency and the new league year doesn’t officially start until Wednesday, March 18, the league’s legal tampering period began on Monday, March 16, and transactions are being made.
During the three-day window, NFL teams “are permitted to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with, the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2019 player contracts” at 2 p.m. (MDT) on March 18.
The league and the NFL Players Association recently agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement that limits teams to one franchise or transition tag during the 2020 offseason. A few teams began to tag players on March 16.
