DALLAS, Tex. – Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki decided to go off-roading in his minivan when he got stuck. Nowitzki texted his teammate and former Jazzman Deron Williams to rescue him.
Williams posted a video on his Instagram page, showing a shot of his truck and then turning to his left to find Nowitzki and his minivan with mud-covered tires and the German big man trying to get mud off of his shoes.
“When you are supposed to be on quarantine, you gotta come bail dirty out of the mud,” Williams said in the video.
“So, I get a text from @Swish41 (Nowitzki) asking if I am on quarantine? Followed by I am stuck in the mud can you come pull me out with your truck? You can’t take a damn minivan off-roading dirty!” Williams said on his Instagram post.
Williams is from the Dallas area and splits time between Texas and Utah now that the former Jazzman is retired. He played with Nowitzki and the Mavericks for one and a half seasons from 2015-17 before having his contract bought out.
When Williams became a free agent, he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers for their playoff run where they appeared in the NBA Finals. Williams retired after that season.
