“Love Chaz. Obviously he’s part of the team and he’s here but he’s not going to be participating in spring and pretty much he’s gotta go through a process you know and that’s probably the most I can say right now at this point. I think it would be inappropriate for me to say anything more than that. But that we love him and we will support him as much as we can,” Sitake said.
Chaz Ah You’s career at BYU so far
Last season, Ah You was in his first season back after serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and made a switch from safety to linebacker. In the 11 games that he appeared in last season, Ah You had 31 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and one sack.

On Monday, Ah You was seen at BYU’s Student-Athlete Building on campus after day one of spring practice concluded.
A former four-star recruit out of Timpview High School, Ah You drew comparisons to great BYU linebackers of the past in Kyle Van Noy and Fred Warner because of his athletic play on the football field. This off-season since the 2019 season finale at Hawaii, Ah You went through off-season shoulder surgery that could have kept him out of spring ball as well.
Ah You’s arrest in February
Ah You was arrested on Sunday, February 9th in Eagle Mountain along Red Hawk Road and Pony Express Parkway, according to documents filed in Utah County Court. Documents show that Ah You was going 75 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone and was following close to other vehicles while driving.
Records from the police also indicate that during the inventory search of the vehicle two containers of alcohol were found. One container contained a consumable amount and the other one was empty. A THC vape pen was also found in the vehicle according to documents. All of these are allegations at this time as the legal process continues to play itself out.
