BYU WR Neil Pau’u Returns To Cougars For Spring Football After Missing Last Season

PROVO, Utah – BYU wide receiver Neil Pau’u returned to the Cougars’ football program after sitting out last season.
On the first day of Cougars’ fall camp in August 2019, BYU head coach Kalani Sitake addressed the media and said that Pau’u would not play in the upcoming season.
In June 2019, Pau’u was arrested for DUI. A month later, he pled guilty to amended charges for impaired driving, a class B misdemeanor.
Pau’u tweeted about his return to the Cougars’ football team on Sunday, March 1.

While sitting out the 2019 football season, Pau’u remained at BYU as a full-time student.
During practices leading up to the 2019 Hawaii Bowl, Pau’u was part of the scout team offense.
BYU passing game coordinator Aaron Roderick told KSLSports.com that Pau’u was one of the Cougars’ best receivers when he was able to practice.
In two seasons in Provo, Pau’u recorded 32 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns.
BYU begins spring football practices on Monday, March 1 in Provo.
The Cougars enter 2020 after finishing the last two seasons with a 7-6 record. BYU head coach Kalani Sitake is entering his fifth season leading the Cougars’ football program.
