Utah Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell Erupts In Second Quarter Against Boston Celtics

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell exploded for 20 points during the second quarter against the Boston Celtics.
Mitchell and the Jazz hosted the Celtics at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Wednesday, February 26.
After spending half of the first quarter sitting on the bench in foul trouble, Mitchell burst for 20 points on 9-15 shooting during the following 12 minutes of game time.

Utah trailed the Celtics 23-15 after the opening quarter of play, Mitchell’s eruption carried the Jazz to a second quarter comeback that found themselves down only two points at halftime.

As the two teams went to the locker room, Boston led Utah 53-51.
Mitchell led the Jazz with 22 points on 10-19 shooting despite going 0-5 from three. The NBA All-Star added 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 16 minutes on the floor.

Utah’s next leading scorer was Royce O’Neale. O’Neale started the game in place of Joe Ingles and had 7 points at the break.
The Jazz shot 46.7 percent from the field and 17.6 percent from beyond the arc during the first 24 minutes of play.

Boston finished the first half shooting 47.6 percent overall including 40.0 percent on triples.
The Celtics were led by NBA All-Star Jayson Tatum’s 25 points on 10-13 field goals.
