BYU F Yoeli Childs Named WCC Player Of The Week

PROVO, Utah – The West Coast Conference announced that BYU forward Yoeli Childs was named the Player of the Week after his two performances against Gonzaga and Santa Clara.
Childs averaged 25 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in the two victories at the Marriott Center. He shot 51 percent from the field and 43 percent from the three-point line.
In BYU’s win over the Broncos on Thursday night, Childs finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. He had a double-double by halftime with 11 points and 10 boards.
The big performance from Childs came in the biggest win of the season when the Cougars knocked off No. 2 Gonzaga at home on Saturday night. The senior recorded 28 points and 10 rebounds along with three assists, two steals and one block on 12-19 shooting from the field.

This is the first WCC Player of the Week award for Childs this season and is just the second award handed out to a BYU player. T.J. Haws won the award during the week of December 2.
BYU moved up to No. 17 in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll and cracked the Coaches Poll at No. 18. The Cougars will play their final regular season game on Saturday at Pepperdine.
