Utah Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell Rises Up For Thunderous Dunk Against Spurs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell rose up for a massive dunk during Utah’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Mitchell and the Jazz hosted the Spurs at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Friday, February 21.

The Jazz all-star crossed over and spun around San Antonio point guard Dejounte Murray during the second quarter of play. Mitchell’s move created a wide-open lane for him to drive down, rise up, and throw down a slam dunk over Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge. The jam pulled Utah to within seven points of San Antonio at 46-39 with 6:01 left the first half.

Mitchell’s dunk was part of a 12-2 run by the Jazz during the middle of the second quarter.

After his slam, Mitchell had 6 points on 3-7 field goals. He shot 0-2 from three to start the game but added 2 assists during his first 13 minutes on the floor.

Utah opened the game shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from downtown against San Antonio’s defense.

Conversely, the Spurs shot 45.9 percent overall and 54.5 percent from deep.

San Antonio closed the half on a 19-4 run to take a 65-46 lead at halftime.
