Brandon Averette’s Hot Shooting Carries UVU To Victory Over CSU Bakersfield

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley guard Brandon Averette’s great game shooting led the Wolverines to a win over conference foe Cal State Bakersfield.
The Wolverines hosted the Roadrunners at the UCCU Center on Thursday, February 20.
Averette scored 20 points on 7-10 shooting to carry Utah Valley to a 72-58 win and its fourth conference victory of the season.

Winning Wolverines
The UVU guard not only led his team in scoring but did so by going 5-6 from three-point range. Averette added 3 rebounds and 2 steals in 34 minutes on the court.
Utah Valley had four players score in double figures against CSU Bakersfield including Averette.
Fellow guards TJ Washington and Isaiah White added 10 points and 11 points respectively.

UVU guard Jamison Overton added 12 points on 6-10 field goals in 17 minutes off the bench.

The Wolverines finished the game shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from behind the arc.
Utah Valley’s Emmanuel Olojakpoke broke the Wolverines’ single-season block record with his 72nd swat of the season in the win. He finished the game with 7 points and 3 blocks.

Cal State Closure
Utah Valley held the Roadrunners to 36.1 percent shooting including 23.5 percent from deep.
Cameron Allen scored 25 points on 9-13 field goals off the bench to lead CSU Bakersfield. He was the only Roadrunner to score double figures in the loss.
CSU Bakersfield fell to 11-16 on the season and 5-7 in the Western Athletic Conference.

The Wolverines continue a two-game homestand against the Grand Canyon Antelopes on Saturday, February 22 at 2 p.m. (MDT). Utah Valley defeated Grand Canyon 73-69 in the first meeting of the season.
