Bean, Merrill Help Utah State Cruise To Fifth Straight Win

LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State Aggies cruised to a dominating 78-58 win over the Wyoming Cowboys, their fifth consecutive victory.
Sam Merrill and Justin Bean led the Aggies by scoring a combined 46 points in the win. Merrill had a game-high 26 points along with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. He shot 9-13 from the field and 3-6 from the three-point line.
During the game, Merrill moved up to No. 4 on the Mountain West Conference all-time scoring list. He scored 9 of Utah State’s first 12 points to start the second half.

Bean recorded a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Abel Porter added 10 points, while Neemias Queta contributed 8 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Utah State outscored Wyoming 42-27 in the first half.
As a team, the Aggies shot 50 percent from the field, 35 percent from beyond the arc and made 15 of their 17 free throw attempts. Bean and Queta combined for 29 of the Aggies’ 42 rebounds. The Cowboys’ entire team grabbed 25 rebounds.

Trevon Taylor led Wyoming with 13 points. Greg Milton III added 10 points off the bench.
The Cowboys struggled offensively, making 35 percent of their field goal attempts as well as 8-25 from downtown for 29 percent.
Utah State improved their record to 22-7 overall and 11-5 in Mountain West Conference play. They will play their final regular season game in the Spectrum on Tuesday, February 25 against the San Jose State Spartans. The game will tip-off at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
