SANDY, Utah – Although no official signing has occurred, Justin Meram and Giuseppe Rossi are currently training with Real Salt Lake in Arizona, according to head coach Freddy Juarez.
Both Meram and Rossi have been rumored to be potentially joining the Claret and Cobalt for a number of weeks, however, no official news regarding their signing has been released.
Rossi has not seen the field for a year and a half and needs to prove his fitness to the coaching staff before any signing occurs.
“He [Rossi] is a quality player, he is an exciting player and has been world-class. He has been with us since Phoenix…we like him, the group likes him but that is just the soccer side of it. The economical side needs to go through his agent but hopefully, we can figure something out,” Juarez said. “He scored two goals for us this last scrimmage against Vegas and his first goal was nothing short of spectacular.”
Meram, however, simply needs to prove that he still has the ability to play at the professional level. Over the last two seasons, Meram has played for three different MLS clubs.
“He [Meram] is here with us, gate B6 on Delta, so he is traveling with us to Arizona,” Juarez said. We are excited about him as he has been a very good player throughout the league and we hope we can make something happen for him.”
Multiple sources state that Justin Meram has indeed signed with Real Salt Lake. Still need final league approval, but contract signed and docs submitted. Oh, and his first regular season game with #RSL will be away against…Orlando City. #OCSC

Meram and Rossi have both endured long and successful professional careers, unlike a large portion of Real Salt Lake’s current roster who are yet to turn 24 years old. The potential addition of Meram and Rossi would be a great balancing act for the youth that is currently on the roster.
The team leaves for Arizona, for the second time this pre-season, today. Over the next two weeks, RSL will play three practice matches during their time in Arizona, starting on Saturday against Sporting Kansas City.
