Three Utah Royals FC Players Help USWMT To 2020 CONCACAF Championship

CARSON, California – Three members of Utah Royals FC helped the United States Women’s National Team defeat Canada to win the 2020 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.
The United State played Canada at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California on Sunday, February 9.
Utah Royals FC players Christen Press, Kelly O’Hara, and Becky Sauerbrunn helped the USWNT to a 3-0 victory over Canada.

This is the fifth consecutive CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship for the USWNT.

Team USA finished the tournament with a 5-0 record. They scored 25 goals while allowing their opponents to score none.
- January 28: 4-0 vs. Haiti
- January 31: 8-0 vs. Panama
- February 3: 6-0 vs. Costa Rica
- February 7: 4-0 vs. Mexico
- February 9: 3-0 vs. Canada
Press was awarded the Golden Ball for her play in CONCACAF. The award goes to the tournament’s best player.
During the tournament, Press scored five goals including two in the United State’s match against Costa Rica.

The United States and Canada both qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo with their performances in the qualifying tournament.
The next match for the United States Women’s National Team is against England in the SheBelieves Cup on March 5 at 5 p.m. (MDT). The match will broadcast on ESPN2.
