“It was a good bounce back win,” SUU head coach Todd Simon. “This group has shown all kinds of character and ability to bounce back from adversity and today we were really focused on defense, which has been our calling card, and I think we put together a pretty good 40 minutes of it.”
Southern Utah shot 48 percent from the field and 40 percent from the perimeter, while going 18-22 from the foul line.
They outrebounded the Vikings 44-30 but only forced 11 turnovers while committing 17 miscues of their own.
Portland State had one player score in double figures and that was Rashaad Goolsby with 14 points off the bench along with 7 rebounds.
Thunderbirds head coach Todd Simon notched his 50th win as the head coach of Southern Utah.
Southern Utah improved their record to 14-0 overall and 7-5 in Big Sky Conference play. They will be on the road to face Sacramento State on Thursday, February 13 at 8 p.m. on Pluto TV.
