Averette, Jardine Combine For 40 Points In UVU’s Overtime Loss To Seattle

OREM, Utah – Utah Valley guards Casdon Jardine and Brandon Averette combined for 40 points in the Wolverines’ loss to the Seattle Redhawks.
The Wolverines hosted the Redhawks at the UCCU Center in Orem on Saturday, February 8.
Jardine and Averette’s big games weren’t enough for Utah Valley as the Wolverines fell to the Redhawks in the final 1:10 of overtime.
Seattle’s Morgan Means scored 4 points in the final 1:10 of play to close out an 87-85 road victory.

Jardine led the Wolverines with 20 points on 8-13 shooting including 4-7 from behind the arc. The UVU guard added 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal.
Averette scored 20 points on 7-12 field goals. He shot 1-3 from downtown. Averette added 1 board, 7 assists, and 2 steals.
Unfortunately for the Wolverine’s Jardine and Averette’s scoring performances were scarred by 8 combined turnovers. Utah Valley committed 21 turnovers against the Redhawks including two during overtime.
Utah Valley finished the game shooting 47.5 percent overall and 33.3 percent from three-point land.

Seattle shot 44.4 percent for the game and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The Redhawks were led by Terrell Brown’s 28 points on 9-27 shooting.
With the win, Seattle improved to 12-12 on the season and 5-4 in Western Athletic Conference play.
The Wolverines fell to 9-15 overall and 3-6 in WAC games.

Utah Valley travels to play UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday, February 13 at 6 p.m. (MDT). The Wolverines defeated the Vaqueros 72-70 in the first meeting of the season on January 18.
