NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Major League Soccer has released their new kits at the 2020 MLS Forward25 party in Manhattan.
Real Salt Lake’s new 2020 kit design is focused on the landscape and topography of Utah.
The front of the jersey has blue lines scattered across the front that are a replica of the diverse, and intricate landscape that the state of Utah offers.

The right shoulder has three blue stripes that cover the shoulder blade to the front of the chest. Adidas, the designer of the kit, is known for its three-stripe logo famously worn by the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team.
The back of the shirt has a modern twist. The numbers and last names are hollow, with only the yellow outline visible.
While the “As One” emblem from a year ago remains centrally placed on the top of the back of the jersey.

The theme of the shirt, according to Real Salt Lake, is “Soccer Elevated”. A play on words from what the Utah Office of Tourism uses to advertise the state of Utah- “Life Elevated”. Much like the “Life Elevated” logo of unique rock shapes and “solid and substantial landforms that create the visual rhythms that people have come to associate this place,” Real Salt Lakes topography depiction also reflects the beautiful and diverse landscape that Utah offers.
The shirt is vibrant, the colors and design are unique and original. While the front of the kit may seem overwhelming to some, the back of the kit is simple and refreshing.
Real Salt Lake, along with 25 other clubs, released its kit a day before the start of New York’s fashion week.
Every team selected a model to wear the kit for the event, Real Salt Lake selected Marshall Miller, a local professional base jumper, parachute and, squirrel suit diver. Jumping from planes or running off cliffs allow Miller to have seen Utah’s landscape as very few have seen before.
Other celebrity models include the Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, recently signed LA Galaxy striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, actor, and director Colin Hanks and professional gamer Ninja.
Real Salt Lake kicks off the 2020 MLS season on the road against Orlando F.C. on February 29th. The first home match at Rio Tinto Stadium will be against the New York Red Bulls on the 7th of March.
