BYU’s Gardini Hits Ball Over His Head For Impressive Kill Against UCSB

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s volleyball outside hitter Davide Gardini swatted the ball for an impressive kill against UC Santa Barbara.
Gardini and the No. 2 ranked Cougars hosted the No. 3 UCSB Gauchos at the Smith Fieldhouse in Provo on Saturday, February 1.
The sophomore outside hitter connected his hand with the volleyball on a lob, hit the ball over his head, and sent the ball flying to the floor for a 10-8 BYU lead over the Gauchos in the second set.

The Cougars went on to win the second set by a score of 26-21.
After falling 25-21 in the third set, BYU rallied for a 2-1 deficit to win the fourth set 29-26.
In the fifth and final set, the Cougars escaped with a narrow 16-14 advantage to win the match 3-2.

BYU defeated the Gauchos 3-1 on January 31.
With the back-to-back wins over UCSB, the Cougars improved to a perfect 10-0 on the season.

BYU’s next match is against the UCLA Bruins. The Cougars and Bruins meet at the Smith Fieldhouse on Thursday, February 6 at 5 p.m. (MDT).
