Former BYU Forward Eric Mika Signs 10-Day Contract With Sacramento Kings

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento Kings announced that they’ve signed former BYU men’s basketball forward Eric Mika to a 10-day contract.
Sacramento general manager Vlade Divac announced Mika’s signing on Saturday, February 1.
Mika previously signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Kings franchise on August 20, 2019, after a strong performance with the organization during the NBA’s Summer League.
He was waived on October 11, 2019, and went to play for the Kings’ G-League team.

Mika has spent time overseas with multiple teams including Consultinvest Pesaro, Basket Brescia Leonessa, Medi Bayreuth, and the Xinjiang Flyer Tigers.
After getting cut from the Kings’ roster in October 2019, Mika went to play professionally in China with Xinjiang. He left the Chinese team near the end of 2019.
During his time with the Flying Tigers, the forward averaged 19.9 points and 11.7 rebounds in seven games.
Former BYU standout Eric Mika has left Xinjiang in China to pursue opportunities in the NBA. Mika spent the preseason with the Sacramento Kings before being waived. In China he averaged 19.9 PPG and 11.7 RPG over 7 games played.

Sacramento’s G-League affiliate, the Stockton Kings, announced that they had acquired the former BYU player on January 7.
During his first stint with Stockton, Mika averaged 19.8 points on 56.7 percent shooting in 13 games. He posted 14.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 32.5 minutes per contest.

Prior to his professional career, Mika played at BYU from 2013-14 and again form 2016-17 after returning from a church mission.
Mika averaged 16.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game as a Cougar.
In the forward’s freshman season, BYU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
During his sophomore season, the forward averaged 20.3 points per game and an appearance in the NIT.

Mika’s first opportunity to play with the Kings will come against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, February 1 at 8 p.m. (MDT).
