SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was one of the more impressive defensive plays of the year on Saturday and Rudy Gobert duplicated that effort on Monday night against the Houston Rockets.
Guard Austin Rivers was on the perimeter with Gobert defending him when Rivers got into the paint, using a stepback move to shake Gobert when he ran back into the paint before Gobert recovered from the quickness of Rivers to block his shot, then the Rockets were called for a shot clock violation.
It came at a pretty big moment with the Jazz trailing the Rockets 113-101 with 3:49 left. Gobert picked up his second block of the game.

Great commentary on @NBATV in that last Gobert block, questioning Rivers decision to drive into the paint: “Why would you go into the middle of the ocean with a great white.”#TakeNote #DPOY

On Saturday afternoon against the Dallas Mavericks in the final moments of the game, Gobert was beat off the dribble by former Ute Delon Wright when the Jazz big man recovered to block Wright’s shot off of the backboard to seal the win for Utah.
