No. 5 Utah Gymnastics Dominates Arizona State In Pac-12 Opener

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah Gymnastics team started the Pac-12 portion of their schedule with a dominating 197.05-194.3 win over Arizona State at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
The Utes started the first rotation on the vault with Alexia Burch collecting a career-high 9.95 score. That was followed up with Kim Tessen scoring a 9.925 to finish the vault. Utah held a 49.150-47.775 lead after the first rotation.

The Red Rocks moved to the bars for the second rotation. That was when the high scores continued with Cristal Isa notching a career-high 9.925 score. Hunter Dula had the same score to help Utah to a commanding 98.425-96.525 advantage over the Sun Devils.

When the meet moved to the third rotation and on the beam, Emilie LeBlanc had a 9.900 score, along with 9.875 scores each from Burch, Adrienne Randall and Isa. That lifted Utah to a 147.725-145.250 lead after three rotations.

The final rotation was on the floor and the Red Rocks started with two season-high performances. Both Isa and Abby Paulson had 9.90 scores. It was a career-high score for Isa and a season-high for Paulson.

The Red Rocks started the season on January 3 with a 196.425-195.350 victory over then-No. 12 Kentucky. The Utes then took down Utah State, BYU and Southern Utah in the “Best of State” meet at Maverik Center with a 197.000 score.
The Utes will improve to 5-0 on the season and will be on the road against Arizona on Saturday, February 1. The meet will begin at 2 p.m.
