BYU Guard Haws Crosses Over Saint Mary’s Defender, Dunks To Force Overtime

MORAGA, Calif. – BYU guard TJ Haws crossed over a Saint Mary’s defender and drove to the basket for game-tying dunk to force overtime between the Cougars and Gaels.
Haws and the Cougars played the Gaels at McKeon Pavilion on Thursday, January 9.
The BYU guard crossed over the SMC defender, drove to the hoop, and threw down a dunk to tie the game at 77 all with 7 seconds left in regulation.

Saint Mary’s drove to the opposite end of the court but the Cougars forced two misses in the final seconds to force five extra minutes of play.
Haws finished regulation with a game-high 24 points on 9-19 field goals. The BYU guard scored the 24 points while going 0-4 on three-point attempts. He added 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
BYU guard Jake Toolson added 22 points on 8-16 shooting during the first 40 minutes of the game.
Saint Mary’s was led in regulation by Jordan Ford’s 21 points. Gaels forwards Malik Fitts and Dan Fotu each scored 15 points.
BYU outshot Saint Mary’s 50.9 percent to 46.7 percent on field goals in regulation.
