SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Knicks forward Bobby Portis made illegal contact with Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic and was assessed a flagrant foul in New York’s game in Utah. It was the second consecutive game that Portis has been given a flagrant foul.

Portis made contact with Bogdanovic’s head as the Jazzman drove to the basket late in the third quarter of the game at Vivint Smart Home Arena on Wednesday, January 8.

After reviewing the play, NBA officials handed out a flagrant foul type 1 to Portis.

Portis checked out of the game and went to the Knicks’ bench while Bogdanovic went to the free throw line. Bogdanovic made both free throws and Utah retained possession with a 91-63 lead and 3:54 left on the clock in the quarter.

The Knicks forward was able to re-enter play later in the game.

First Flagrant

Early Wednesday morning Portis was fined $25,000 for a “recklessly making contact” with Los Angeles Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the Knicks’ game in L.A. on Tuesday, January 7.

Portis was ruled to have committed a flagrant foul type 2 against KCP and was ejected from the game early in the second quarter.

New York ended up losing 117-87 to the Lakers. It was the Knicks’ third straight loss.
