SANDY, Utah – The rumors of Swedish left-back Elliot Käck joining Real Salt Lake have apparently fallen through. Käck currently plays for Djurgårdens IF and has done so since the start of 2019. Director of Sports for Djurgårdens IF, Bosse Andersson, was recently interviewed by Expressen, a Swedish newspaper, Andersson spoke openly about what the future holds for Käck.
“There has been interest [from Real Salt Lake]. At the same time, Elliot [Käck] has a contract with us for two more years…he will play in Djurgårdens in 2020,” Andersson said according to Expressen.
Donny Toia, who was recently signed to a new one-year extension, is the only left-back on the current RSL roster ahead of the 2020 season. The Claret and Cobalt’s seven defenders on the roster include Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Erik Holt, Alvin Jones, Nedum Onuoha, Marcelo Silva and Donny Toia.
RSL has signed 23 players thus far, they currently have five more roster spots to fill prior to the season starting.
You can expect RSL to sign another left-back, however, the highly anticipated arrival of Elliot Käck appears to have deteriorated.
