COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Utah State men’s basketball team is looking for its third win in a row over the Air Force Falcons in the two team’s first meeting of the 2019-20 season.

The Aggies and Falcons square off at Clune Arena in Colorado Springs on Tuesday, January 7.

Utah State won both matchups against the Falcons during the 2018-19 season. The Aggies have won four of the last five meetings and eight of the last 10. Air Force trails the all-time series 18-5.

Last season, USU won the first of two of the two games against the Mountain West Conference foe with a 79-62 home victory on January 5. The Aggies traveled to Colorado on February 16 and returned to Logan with a 76-62 win over the Falcons.

Air Force finished last season with a 14-18 overall record and went 8-10 in MWC play.

The Falcons are led by Lavelle Scottie’s 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game this season.

Utah State enters the Air Force game having lost two consecutive games, first at UNLV and then to undefeated San Diego State at home.

In the loss to SDSU, USU center Neemias Queta recorded a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds.

The Aggies are led in scoring this season by guard Sam Merrill who is averaging 17.7 per contest on 41.6 percent shooting. Merrill is 10 points away from moving to No. 6 on Utah State’s all-time scoring list.

Utah State and Air Force are scheduled to tip-off at 9 p.m. (MDT). The game will broadcast on ESPN 2, 1280 AM (SLC), and 92.3 FM (Logan).
