PROVO, Utah – BYU senior forward continues to move up the record books in his Cougar career. One week after moving into tenth all-time on BYU’s career scoring list, Childs moved up to ninth.
Entering Saturday’s West Coast Conference opener against Loyola Marymount, Childs needed five points to pass BYU great Mekeli Wesley, who played for the Cougars from 1997-2001.
At the 4:22 mark in the first half, Childs tipped in a missed shot against Loyola Marymount to pass Wesley to take the ninth spot on the all-time scoring list.
Childs now has 1,744 points in his career at BYU. This season, Childs is averaging 21.2 points per game since returning to action after serving a nine-game suspension handed down by the NCAA.

The next player on the list in front of Childs is Jeff Chatman who played at BYU from 1984-1988. Chatman had 1,824 points in his career. If Childs continues averaging 21 points per game the remainder of this season, he could move as high as number six on BYU’s all-time list.
BYU defeated Loyola Marymount 63-38 to open West Coast Conference play for the 2020 season.
