Mitchell, Lillard Among Top Players Receiving Votes For NBA All-Star Game

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell and Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard ranked among the top ten guards from the Western Conference in the first fan returns for NBA all-star voting.
The first fan returns for NBA all-star voting were released on Thursday, January 2.
Mitchell ranked No. 7 in fan votes among Western Conference guards in the first returns with 108,349 votes.
Lillard received the third most guard votes with 202,498.

The Utah guard was the only Jazzman to have his name listed out of 20 Western Conference players highlighted on the first voting returns.
The Jazz haven’t had an all-star since 2017 when former Jazzman and current Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward. Mitchell received nearly 33,000 more votes than Hayward in the first returns.
In 33 games this season, Mitchell has averaged 25.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. His scoring is ranked No. 11 in the NBA.

Lillard has also played 33 games in the 2019-20 season. He’s averaged 26.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 7.6 assists. He is No. 7 in scoring in the league.
The Blazers point guard played for the Weber State Wildcats from 2008-2012. He was drafted by Portland with the 6th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.
Lillard left Ogden as a two-time Big Sky Conference MVP and three-time first-team All-Big Sky Conference selection. The former Weber State guard was second in the nation scoring average his senior season posting 24.5 points per game.
He scored 1,934 points during his time as a Wildcat. His jersey was retired by the university in 2017.

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Dončić received the most fan votes followed by 2018-19 NBA MVP and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James received the third-most fan votes.

The 2020 NBA All-Star teams will be drafted from a pool of players voted as starters and reserves. The rosters will be selected by two captains. The captains will be the top vote-getters from each conference. Currently, those captains would be Dončić and Antetokounmpo.
Fan voting updates will be released on Thursday, January 9 and Thursday, January 16. Fans can vote for players on vote.NBA.com, the NBA app, Google.com, or Google Assistant.
NBA All-Star voting ends on Monday, January 20.
