SLC Stars Win NBA G-League Showcase With Victory Over Grand Rapids

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Salt Lake City Stars won the G-League Winter Showcase with a 91-88 overtime win over the Grand Rapids Drive.
The Stars are the G-League affiliate of the Utah Jazz. They got off to a great start by outscoring the Drive 29-19 in the first quarter. Grand Rapids slowly chipped away at the lead and eventually tied the game at the end of the fourth quarter to force overtime. In the G-League, the overtime period is only two minutes but the Stars scored six points.
Salt Lake City is now on a 13 game winning streak and the team wins $100,000 for winning the G-League Winter Showcase.

Four Stars players reached double figures in scoring led by Juwan Morgan’s double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 7-10 from the field and 2-2 from the three-point line. Justin Wright-Foreman added 16 points, Nigel Williams-Goss chipped in 14 points and 7 assists and William Howard had 11 points. Former BYU star Kyle Collinsworth posted 8 points and 5 rebounds.
For Grand Rapids, Donta Hall had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Drive. Jordan Bone chipped in 17 and Todd Withers recorded 15 points.
The Stars will return home on Friday and Saturday, December 27 and 28 to face the Austin Toros. The games will start at 7 p.m. and will be played at Bruin Arena on the campus of Salt Lake Community College.
