Wagner, Van Noy, Weddle Highlight Great Decade For Locals In NFL

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Bobby Wagner, Kyle Van Noy, and Eric Weddle highlighted an excellent decade of play in the NFL by players that played college football in the state of Utah.
The former Utah State Aggie, BYU Cougar, and Utah Ute were key contributors to successful NFL squads during the last 10 years.
Wagner and Van Noy were featured members of Super Bowl-winning teams. Weddle’s last decade of NFL play led him to six Pro Bowls.

Bobby Wagner – Utah State
Wagner led the Seattle Seahawks to win in Super Bowl XLVIII. The linebacker tied for a team-high 10 tackles in the Seahawks’ 43-8 rout of the Denver Broncos for the world championship.
In 2019, Wagner was named to his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl. He’s been recognized as one of the NFL’s best defensive players each season since 2014.
After playing at Utah State from 2008-11, Wagner was selected by the Seahawks in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Kyle Van Noy – Brigham Young
After getting traded by the Detroit Lions in 2016, Van Noy helped the Patriots to a title in Super Bowl LI. The former Cougar linebacker recorded 1 tackle, 0.5 sacks, and a quarterback hit in the Pats historic comeback to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28.
The LB led New England to another championship in with a 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII. Van Noy posted 4 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 quarterback hits to earn his second Super Bowl ring.
Van Noy played for BYU from 2010-13. He was selected with the 40th overall pick by the Lions in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Eric Weddle – Utah
Weddle has played for three teams in the last decade. After spending the first nine seasons of his NFL career with the San Diego Chargers, the defensive back signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2016. Weddle added to his hall of fame caliber resume with Pro Bowl honors in each of his seasons with the Ravens. The former Utah DB signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019.
The defensive back was tied for the most interceptions in the NFL after the 2011 season.
After playing for the Utes from 2003-06, Weddle was drafted by the Chargers in the second round with the 37th overall pick in 2007.
