SALT LAKE CITY – For the first time in their international careers, former BYU stars Jimmer Fredette and Brandon Davies went up against one another on the court.
Davies’ FC Barcelona squad pulled away at home from Fredette and Panathinaikos in the fourth quarter to secure a 98-86 victory. Both of the BYU legends showed out well for their respective teams.

Fredette led the way for the Greens scoring a team-high 19 points and dishing out three assists in 28 minutes of play. Davies poured in 12 points and pulled down six rebounds off the bench for Barcelona.
Two of Fredette’s 19 points came with Davies defending him. With 5:15 left in the second quarter, Fredette hit a fadeaway shot near the paint over the outstretched hand of Davies to cut Panathinaikos’ deficit down to four.
Jimmer shot 64 percent from the field and was 2-4 from 3-point range in the loss to Barcelona.
For Davies, most of his work on the offensive end was with midrange shots. Davies did have two highlight dunks that had the Barcelona fans on their feet during the second quarter.
After the game, both Fredette and Davies met at center-court and swapped jerseys to one another and posed for photographs. Davies shared the moment on his personal Instagram account, “Reunited with my bro @jimmerfredette_32 ! So you know we had to jersey swap!! Always a pleasure sharing the court with you, even as frienemies!”
The two were teammates at BYU from 2009-2011. Those BYU teams won three NCAA Tournament games in those seasons. The most tournament victories in a two-year stretch for BYU basketball in 30 years.
