It’s the first time that the Utes will play in the Alamo Bowl and just the second time in school history that they will face the Texas Longhorns. Texas will appear in their 56th bowl game in school history and currently hold a 28-25-2 record. Under head coach Kyle Whittingham, the Utes are 11-2 in bowl games.
Texas will be making their fourth appearance in the game. In 2006 they beat Iowa by two points. Their next appearance was in 2012 when they beat Oregon State and their last showing was the next season with a loss to Oregon in 2013.
The Alamo Bowl will take place on Tuesday, December 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
