SANDY, Utah – The depth at right-back has been bolstered at Real Salt Lake after the club announced the addition of Trinidad and Tobago native Alvin Jones.

Jones, 25, who spent the 2019 season with the OKC Energy FC in the USL Championship will bring experience to a position that desperately needs it following the departure of Brooks Lennon.

During the 2019 season with the OKC Energy, Jones had 1 goal and 2 assists in 21 matches after signing in mid-April. Previously, he had played with W Connection in Trinidad, winning two league titles in six seasons and making six appearances in CONCACAF Champions League.

Jones also has 19 caps for the Trinidad and Tobago National Team, scoring one goal against the U.S. National Team on October 19, 2017, in the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

He will compete, alongside Aaron Herrera for starting minutes ahead of the 2020 MLS season.

“We’re happy to add a player of Alvin’s caliber to help make the team better. He’s good on the ball and has good attributes in the attacking third. He’s athletic. He’s strong,” RSL Head Coach Freddy Juarez said. “He’s a national team player and we hope that experience can make us a better team overall.”
