Allen’s Big First Half Helps Utah Blowout Central Arkansas

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah Runnin’ Utes won their third straight game after a blowout victory over Central Arkansas, 98-67.
The Utes got a big spark in the first half from sophomore Timmy Allen, who scored 19 of his 24 points in the opening half.
Allen shot 9-16 from the field and knocked down six of his eight free throw attempts, along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Utah outscored Central Arkansas 55-42 in the first half and 43-25 in the second half.Ā Four other Utes reached double figures in scoring, including Alfonso Plummer with 18 points and four three-pointers, Both Gach and Mikael Jantunen each added 13 points apiece. Riley Battin contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Freshman point guard Rylan Jones played just nine minutes after missing the rest of the game with an injury. He had two points and one assist.
As a team, Utah knocked down 11 three-pointers on 30 attempts for 36 percent. They shot 50 percent from the field and 77 percent from the charity stripe.
For Central Arkansas, Rylan Bergersen led the way with 21 points.
The Utes improved their record to 7-2 and finished their non-conference home schedule. They will be back in action on Saturday, December 14 to face the Weber State Wildcats at Vivint Smart Home Arena in the Beehive Classic. The game will tip-off at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
